John Boone, one of Pawhuska's most loved men, dies

John Boone, the former Pawhuska police chief, a current deputy, and the man who for years ran the Pawhuska ambulance service with his wife Linda, died early this morning in Florida.

Boone was an incorrigibly cheerful man, a ray of sunshine in every life he touched. He leaves behind a stepdaughter, Tanya, two daughters, Lisa and Gayla, and three sons, Johnny, Michael and Justin, the latter being a foster child he and his  wife recently adopted after falling in love with the boy.
The Boones were in Florida visiting their son Johnny. He had heart pains, took nitroglycerine and went to the hospital Wednesday evening. He was treated and discharged (while characteristically cutting up with the nurses), then died around 3 a.m. Thursday of a heart attack.
We'll have a story about Boone in next week's Bigheart Times and will post his obituary here as soon as we get it.
