Tim Barrett obituary: "Mr. Tim" to Head Start kids

Timothy Michael Barrett of Wynona, Oklahoma, passed away at his home on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at the age of forty-nine years. 

Tim was born on November 26, 1958 in Corry, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Raymond and Laurene (Hanson) Barrett. He was raised and received his early education in Corry before moving to California for a short time; returning to Corry to complete his education, graduating from Corry Area High School in 1977.

Shortly after graduation, Tim accepted his first job working as a furniture assembler for Union City Chair Company in Union City, PA where he developed a keen interest in carpentry and woodworking.   Over the next few years, Tim worked for Loblaws Foods on the service dock and as the groundskeeper for St. Paul’s Lutheran before moving to California in October of 1981.

As a resident of Bakersfield, California, Tim worked as a warehouse receiving agent for The Broadway and then at Best Cabinets as an assembly person and installer. While working for Best Cabinets, Tim attended Bakersfield College studying cabinetry construction from January 1991 until June 1992.  After returning to Pennsylvania for a couple of years, Tim moved to Hominy, Oklahoma in 1994.  Over the past few years, he has worked in several positions including Southwest Cupids, Whirlpool Corporation, Green Country Sub-Pump, and Palmer Plumbing as an apprentice plumber. In January of 2004, Tim moved to Dallas, Texas where he worked for Dynamic Systems and Anderson Merchandising. 

After returning to Oklahoma in September of 2006, Tim was employed for the Pawhuska IGA as a stock and delivery person and as a butcher.  He recently returned to his love of cabinetry construction working for CRS Emergency Vehicles as an ambulance cabinet maker.  He was served as a volunteer for the Pawhuska Head Start where he was affectionately known by the children as Mr. Tim.

Tim was diagnosed with Type I diabetes at the age of two and spent countless days in the hospital as a child.  He learned to adapt his lifestyle to living with the disease and was always willing to encourage others in dealing with it.  He enjoyed helping others and was always there with a smile for those around him.  Additionally, he loved to make people laugh with a multitude of voices he commanded including Sponge-Bob and Patrick   He enjoyed camping, horses and doing anything that involved spending time with his children; especially having campfires.  Tim also liked disco music and dancing with his mother, Sis.  He was described by his family as a person who was a loving son, wonderful father and companion who loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.   Tim loved challenges and could do anything he set his mind to accomplish.   Tim could often be quoted as saying, “Hey, we had a good time today.”

Timothy Michael Barrett is survived by his mother L. Sis and her husband, Jim Eddings of Hominy, Oklahoma; his companion, Heather Renee Waggie of the home; two sons, Franklin Michael “Max” Waggie and Timber Uryan Waggie, both of the home; father, Raymond Barrett of Bakersfield, California; brother, David Scott Barrett of Bakersfield, California; sister, Renae Michelle Barrett of Bakersfield, California; and three other children, Nicholas Bryason, Kyleigh Nicole and Braden Levi Barrett of Denton, Texas. 

Following cremation, a memorial services will be scheduled at a later date.  Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Chapman-Black Funeral Home in Cleveland.
