Nell McCool: A beautician who met her husband when serving him a cup of java

Longtime Pawhuska beautician NELL McCOOL passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2008.  She was 80 years old.
Nell was born February 17, 1928 in Wyatt, Louisiana, the daughter of Thomas P. Simpson and Maggie Tullos.  At the age of 6, Nell's mother passed away, so her uncle, Benton Tullos, took her to raise.  Nell came to Pawhuska at the age of 16.  She was working at a local cafĂ© when a young soldier home from the service came in to buy a cup of coffee.  That soldier, Kenneth McCool, and Nell were married December 12, 1944, a union that lasted for over 26 years.  Nell was a beautician in Pawhuska for well over forty years.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pawhuska.
Surviving family include:
Her children: Dean McCool and wife, Mona, of Guthrie, OK;
Derlene Scott and husband, Doug, of Smithville, MO;
Her grandchildren: Jeff McCool, Ashley McCool; Tim Scott and wife, LouAnn; and Nate Scott and wife, Pam;
Her great grandchildren: Miah McCool, Jonathan Scott, Craig Scott, Amy Scott, and Racheal Scott; One great-great granddaughter: Isabella Scott;
And a host of other family and friends.
Graveside services will be held Friday, October 3, at 2:00 PM in the Pawhuska City Cemetery.  Rev. Justin Chapman, First Baptist Church, will officiate.  Interment will follow.
