GOLDIE LELA TIMMIS, 97, passed away at hr home December 17, 2008.
Goldie was a lifelong resident of Osage County, born September 30, 1911 near Wynona, Oklahoma, the daughter of Jake and Ona (Sears) Bonner. She attended and graduated from Mound Valley in 1932. She married Henry A. Timmis on April 3, 1933 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters - Okle Young and Christina Apollo, and three brothers - Carl, Leonard and Herman Bonner.
She is survived by: Her son and daughter-in-law: Jimmie and Oney Kay Timmis; Her daughter: Dixie Brewer; Six granddaughters: Terri Kater, Toni Eder, Amy Banzet, Deborah Runcie, Janet Brown and Lori Gwyn; Eleven great grandchildren: Jim & Jess Hopper, Jami, Jett, Jordan and Jena Eder; Brandi and Danielle Banzet; Andrew Runcie, Benjamin and Bethany Brown; Three great great grandchildren: Lillyan Kaye Hopper and Jace and Aliya Hopper; Two sisters-in-law: Christine and Pat Bonner; One brother-in-law: Wayne Apollo; Numerous nieces and nephews, her companion, Bob Ward, and a host of other family and friends.
Goldies's many activities included the Home Demonstration Club at Mound Valley, the Garden Club in Hominy and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 198 in Pawhuska. Her favorite hobby was fishing.
When asked about her longevity of life, she answered "hard work". Her hard work consisted of farming in all areas, including milking cows to picking cotton and tending to her beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. Her labor of love was cooking and baking for her family and friends. Holidays and family reunions were the highlight of her life. When she could serve huge fantastic meals to all who came to her home, she was content and happy. Not only did her family enjoy her labor of love, but all the groups and organizations she attended enjoyed her delicious pies. Holiday candy making was another specialty her many family and friends enjoyed as well. Goldie's life was spent serving others. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, companion and friend to all.
