Roads in Osage County are extremely slick and treacherous due to an ice storm. Travel without chains is unwise and, if you must drive, going above 30 mph is extremely dangerous. There is an endless glut of accidents, including a pile-up at about 2:30 p.m. on OK 11 at Dog Thrasher Creek near Barnsdall involving five or six cars and two semis that police have been unable to get to as of 3:10 p.m.
Road crews, wreckers and police are out in force but are overwhelmed and waits are long to get help if you slide off the roadway. Lawmen are skidding out, a road crew is bogged down, and there are, again, accidents in several locations and some roads are being closed due to wrecks.
County Road 2145 is impassable, according to law enforcement. That is the road leading to the Bartlesville casino off OK 123. Earlier today, Washington County issued this warning over the police radio: "Tell Osage County that they're going to have a fatality unless they do something about 39 Hill." 39 Hill is the name of the steep winding road that leads to the casino from the other direction.
