Andrea Bone obituary: Hr manager for Osage casino

Andrea K. Bone passed away Monday, February 23, 2009 at her home in Bartlesville.  She was 40 years old.

Andrea was born July 8, 1968 in Hominy, Oklahoma, the daughter of John E. and Evelyn Mae (Trumbly) Bone.  She was a graduate of the University of Tulsa with BS Degree in the Arts.  Andrea was employed as the Human Resources Manager for the Osage Million Dollar Elm Casino. 

Surviving family include: Her parents: John and Glenna Bone of Pawhuska; Evelyn and Larry Taylor of Bartlesville; Her siblings:George Anthony Bone of Clarksville, TN;   Johnnie Justine Hughes of St. Cloud, FL; John Harvey Overholt; Mac Bone of Pawhuska; Alice Goad of Mannford; Duke Overholt and William Todd Taylor; Her beloved pets: Kitty and Junior Bone;  And a host of other family and friends.

Andrea will lie in state at her home located at 332 E. Cheyenne Pl, Bartlesville.  Traditional Indian Services will be Thursday, February 26, at 8:30 a.m. in the Indian Camp Chapel, Pawhuska, OK.  Mass will follow at 10 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Pawhuska.  Father Chris Daigle will officiate.  Interment will be in the A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery.

Brandi Evans obituary: Happiest around her children

Brandi Lee Evans passed away Sunday, February 22, 2009 at her home.  She was 33 years old.

Brandi was born April 19, 1975 in Bartlesville, the daughter of John Lewis and Carolyn Lee (Perrier) Evans.  A member of the Osage Tribe, she enjoyed playing softball and riding horses over the years.  Always willing to lend a hand, Brandi was happiest being around her children, family and friends.

Surviving are: Her mother: Carolyn Evans of Pawhuska; Her father: John Lewis Evans of England; Her siblings: Heather Allen of Bartlesville; Julia Evans of England;  John Evans of England; and Damian Evans, who is deployed  In Iraq; Her children: Alexis Paige Martin, McKenna Nicole Martin and Maddox Lee Evans; A cousin and close friend: Mark Hendrix of Pawhuska; and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 26, at 2 p.m. in the McCartney’s Johnson Funeral Home Chapel.  Father Chris Daigle will officiate.  Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Bartlesville.

Jim Cass obituary: A veteran and former Osage Nation Health Services maintenance director

Jim Maxwell Cass passed away Sunday, February 22, 2009 in the St. John Hospital, Joplin, Missouri.  He was 62 years old.

Jim was born September 2, 1946 in Pawnee, , the son of Roy A. and Myrtle (Daniels) Cass.  A Veteran, Jim was a member of the Osage Tribe of Indians, Grayhorse District.  He was a member of the BCS Pool League and for over 25 years, he played in the Osage County Tuesday Night Bowling League.  Jim was retired from the Osage Nation Health Services, where he served as the Head of Maintenance.

Surviving family includes:  His children: Tonya Cass Rowland and husband, Jim, of Miami, OK;  Newton Daniels Cass and wife, Kimberly, of Pawhuska;  Sarah Cass Boyce and husband, Jake, of Tulsa; Six grandchildren: Haiden and Tori Rowland; McKenna and Jacob Boyce;  Vin and Vada Cass; Two brothers: Dan Cass and wife, Marion, of Pawhuska; Leroy Cass and wife, Carolyn, of Sperry; Two sisters: Cynthia Pradmore of Fairfax; Lila Dooling of Skiatook; and a host of other family and friends.  Jim was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and siblings - Charles Williams, Ralph D. Williams, George Williams, Edna Cass Conley, Charlotte Cass Fowler, Charles “Chock” Cass and Sarah Ann Cass.

Traditional Indian Services will be held Wednesday, February 25, at 8 a.m. in the Indian Camp Chapel, Pawhuska.  Following, funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, also in the Indian Camp Chapel.  Interment will be in the Pawhuska City Cemetery.

Telitha Iris Stark obituary: A painter and devoted wife and mother

Pawhuska native TELITHA IRIS (WALLER) STARK passed away Thursday, February 12, 2009 in the Caney Nursing Center, Caney, Kansas.  She was 91 years old.

Mrs. Stark was born March 6, 1917 in Pawhuska, the daughter of George and Martha May (Crawford) Waller.  On December 19, 1936, she married Leslie Darrell "Deb" Stark in Pawhuska.  He preceded her in death May 14, 1990.  A homemaker, Iris was an artist who enjoyed painting, as well as teaching others to paint.  She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who also lovingly cared for her mother and younger sister.  Iris was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Surviving are: Her son: Leslie D. "Les" Stark, Jr. of Bartlesville, OK; Her daughter: Shirley Homan of Oklahoma City, OK; Her grandchildren: Jeff Homan, Tim Homan, Josh Stark, Michele Parkman, and Jay Stark; Four great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 17, at 2:00 PM in the McCartney's Johnson Funeral Home Chapel.  Rev. Justin Chapman will officiate.  Interment will follow at the Pawhuska City Cemetery.

Emily Cole obituary: Raised in Barnsdall, an avid reader and cross-stitcher

Emily Faye Cole, 54, died Monday at her residence in Austin, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday in the Stumpff Barnsdall Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Phil Clements of the Barnsdall Assembly of God Church officiating.  Interment in the Ethel Reece Cemetery under the direction of the Stumpff Barnsdall Funeral Home.

Emily Faye Cole was born on February 4, 1955 at Bartlesville the daughter of Elvin and Molly (Parker) Mayfield.  She was raised in Barnsdall and graduated from high school there.  She married Michael F. Clark in 1975.  She married David Morris in 1985 and then married Billy Cole in 2001.  She was a member of the Hominy Methodist Church.  She liked to cross stitch and read.

Emily is survived by her husband Billy of the home, one daughter Amanda Clark of Silsbee, Texas, one son Michael Ryan Clark of Hominy, two sisters Joyce Hogue of Barnsdall and Sharon Lowe of Hominy and a special friend Melissa Mullins of Silsbee, Texas.

Late due to nasty weather that took out all my forms of communication. And at this juncture, we would like to thank the Black Gold Motel in Pawhuska for allowing us to use their internet last night to get the paper to press.

However, we can tell you this: Justin Sellers and Brian Dawes won school board seats in Pawhuska and Barnsdall, and the sales tax extension passed times two in Pawhuska. Michael Moore won the Tri-County school board seat.

Then we have a story about an alleged African lion sighting near Fairfax, a lawsuit v the Osage Nation alleging "torture" at the Sand Springs casino, and the Great Backyard Bird Watch, which in the past might make it appear there are no birds in Osage County. And we know that's not true. Get involved!
