Kenneth Wayne Thomas, 62, died Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at his residence in Barnsdall. He was born on February 3, 1947, the son of Issac T. and Joyce Marie Thomas.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, at the Barnsdall Assembly of God in Barnsdall with Bill Lorton and Rev. Phillip Clements officiating. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of the Stumpff-Barnsdall Funeral Home.
Kenneth and Betty were united in marriage on May 31, 1968 in Barnsdall. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and proudly served his country in Korea during the Vietnam War. Kenneth enjoyed wood carving, hunting, fishing, gardening, and canning. He was a member of the American Legion, city council, former Mayor of Barnsdall, volunteer fireman, and the 13-398 local union. Kenneth served as a Deacon in the Barnsdall Assembly of God where he had been a member since accepting Christ in 1993.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Thomas of the home; son, Mike Thomas of Oklahoma City; daughter, Joy and Tim King of Barnsdall; mother, Marie Thomas of Barnsdall; brothers, Ronnie and Debbie Thomas of Barnsdall, Randall and Jennifer Thomas of Bridgeport, TX, Jerry Thomas of Barnsdall, Michael Glenn and Tina Thomas of Owasso, Carl and Elizabeth Thomas of Barnsdall; sisters, Linda and Arthur Allison of Barnsdall, Janet Ruth Jones of Davis, OK, Debra and Michael Givens of Atlanta, TX, Barbara Rena and Chuck Scafella of Queen City, TX; sister-in-law, Becky Thomas of Kingston, OK; one granddaughter, Natasha King; and one great granddaughter, Crystal Renay Maxey; several uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins; and many friends and church family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Issac T. Thomas, brother, David Thomas, brother-in-law, Ben Jones.
